NDIS has resulted in thousands of new Disability Service Providers, independent contractors and many new organisations that have never found themselves in a position to prepare and manage a severe weather event while ensuring service continuity remains. Do Staff know plans?
- Have everything charged
- Have your contacts lists and trades people ready
- Check on sites don’t wait for calls
- Know flood zones and where you are heading
- Most out earlier rather than later
- Expect and plan for psychosocial supports
- Stock up – PPE, Medications, Food
- Updates local emergency services for your site details
- Change rosters and avoid unnecessary travel and risk
- Expect power outages
- Use multiple lights sources
- Have go bags ready now
- Take chargers
- Don’t forget essential equipment as well as people
- Keep everything charged – power could go out any time
- Talk to neighbors
- Find your local supports and informal networks
- Assume emergency services will be busy
